Wydłużenie okresu zbioru truskawek przez zastosowanie różnych wariantów opóźnionego sadzenia roślin frigo

The studies were conducted in 2008 - 2009 in the Pomological Orchard of the Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture in Skierniewice, Poland. The experiment consisted of three factors: A – planting time of frigo plants (15 June, 25 June and 5 July), B – type of frigo plants (A – crown diameter 10 - 15 mm, A+ – crown diameter above 15 mm, raised bed plants – crown diameter above 18 mm and 2 or more side crowns and plug plants), C – method of so il protection against overheating (covering with straw or without covering). Two cultivars: ‘Ventana’ and ‘Elsanta’ were used in the studies. Delaying the planting time of frigo plants had an effect on delaying the fruit ripening time of both cultivars fo r about 6 weeks in comparison with the traditional cultivation of these cultivars (the first ripened fruits were picked at the end of July, the last ones – at the end of September). ‘Elsanta’ gave higher yields than ‘Ventana’, but for both cultivars the hi ghest yield was obtained from the plants planted on 5 July. The raised bed and A+ plants were the most productive, while the plug plants were the least productive. The largest fruits were obtained from the plants planted on 5 July. Fruits of the cultivar ‘Ventana’, picked in September, were the richest in ascorbic acid.
